The Baylor football team began its fourth and final week of spring practice with a two-hour half-pad workout Monday evening under the lights on the Floyd Casey Stadium turf.
"I believe we are kind of tired right now," said Baylor coach Guy Morriss. "We came out kind of loose, which is fine, but when it was time to get in that red zone and crank it, we wasted that first series before we decided to play, and I wasn't happy about that.
"There was some good work out there tonight for some of the back-up guys," he added. "We sat some of the starters out and kind of let them get their legs back under them. They (the starters) have to bounce back Tuesday and have a great day, though."
Baylor will practice for the third time in four days with Tuesday's 3 p.m. workout, then sandwich off days on Wednesday and Friday around a Thursday morning practice (9 a.m.) and Saturday's 1 p.m. Green & Gold Spring Game. Prior to the Green & Gold Game, the Matthew Dove Letterwinners' Plaza, located on the east side of Floyd Casey Stadium, will be formally dedicated in a 12:30 p.m. ceremony.
"It is just polishing (the rest of the week) at this point, we really haven't much," Morriss said. "We just need to execute better and get everyone clicking."
All Baylor practices are open to the public.
Notes: During Monday's workout, Morriss shifted fifth-year senior guard Yancy Boatner to center from guard and moved another fifth-year senior, Will Blaylock, Baylor's 2005 starting center, into Boatner's open guard position ... Baylor reported only bumps and bruises from Saturday's scrimmage ... Monday's practice was Baylor's 12th of the spring ... Tuesday marks the fifth time this spring the Bears will practice on consecutive days.
