RICHMOND, Virginia - The No. 8 Baylor Men's Tennis Team took one from No. 34 Virginia Commonwealth today in Richmond. After taking a hard 6-1 loss to No. 7 Virginia yesterday, the weekend brings The Bears to a 2-2 record on the season.
Baylor came out strong sweeping the doubles point from VCU. Baylor's team of Matija Zgaga and David Galic defeated Arnaud Lecloerec and Petr Olsak in an 8-6 match. Lars Poerschke and Jon Reckewey also picked up a win for Baylor defeating Francesc Lleal and Sergi Arumi 8-4. Michal Kokta and Will Ward were leading VCU's Sebastian Ripoll and Emil Lindgren 7-6 but the match did not finish.
In singles, Baylor's Zgaga, No. 31 Kokta and No. 94 Vladimir Portnov all picked up wins for the Bears. In a hard fought,tie-breaker match, Baylor's No. 1 Poerschke was defeated by No. 52 Arnaud Lecloerec 6-4, 7-6 (4).
Baylor will return to Waco before heading to the National Team Indoors in Seattle, Washington on Feb. 17.
