Baylor University running backs coach and special teams coordinator Chris Lancaster has resigned his position on the Bears' staff to pursue other coaching opportunities, head coach Guy Morriss announced today.
"I appreciate Chris' contributions to our program and wish him well," Morriss said.
Lancaster coached the Bears' offensive line from 2003-05 and was an original member of Morriss' staff, having returned to Waco after working as Morriss' defensive line coach in 2001 and his offensive line coach in 2000 at the University of Kentucky.
Prior to joining Morriss' UK staff, Lancaster worked at McNeese State (1999-2000), Sam Houston State (1997-98), Baylor (1993-96 & 1990-91) and Clemson (1992). The Atlanta, Ga., native, was Clemson's starting fullback from 1985-87 before sustaining a career-ending knee injury which led to him serving as a student assistant coach for the Tigers from 1988-89. Lancaster graduated from Clemson in 1989.
Baylor dropped a 36-10 decision to Big 12 champion Oklahoma Nov. 18 to finish the 2006 season 4-8 overall and 3-5 in the Big 12 Conference.
