AUSTIN, Texas - Baylor men's tennis' Matt Brown lost in the semifinals of the Texas Invitational at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center in Austin, Texas, on Saturday. The Bears' doubles tandem of David Galic and Denes Lukacs was defeated in the quarterfinals.
Brown, a sophomore, defeated Texas Tech's Michael Brehler 6-4, 7-6(2) in the quarterfinals. However, Texas' Dimi Kutrovsky proved too much for Brown as the Longhorn posted a 6-3, 7-6(3) semifinal victory.
Doubles action for the Bears began on Saturday morning when Galic and Lukacs defeated Texas' Jonah Kane-West and Milan Mihailovic, 8-4 in the round of 16. Galic and Lukacs lost in the quarterfinals to Berhnard Deussner and Jon Wiegand of Texas, 8-5
Baylor will conclude its fall season at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Tennis Championships. This year's event, hosted for the second straight year by Ohio State, will take place November 2-5 at the Racquet Club of Columbus and is the second of three national tournaments for singles and doubles during the 2006-07 collegiate tennis season. Junior Lars Poerschke is an at-large selection in the 32-player singles draw.
