After its first off day since starting practice Aug. 8, the Baylor football team went through a 90-minute workout on the Floyd Casey Stadium turf Monday evening. Monday also marked the first day of classes on the Baylor campus.
"It (practice) wasn't bad, bad, but you could tell they'd been away for a day and probably have other things in the back of their minds," said Baylor coach Guy Morriss. " It was good to get out here and get some of the kinks out so that they can come out here tomorrow focused on SMU.
"I think we still need to carry them (full pads)," he added. "We aren't going to be out here long, maybe an hour and 45 minutes, and it'll go down from there. I think the main key for us is to be fresh and not beat up. We just need to come out, polish and be ready mentally."
The Bears now settle into their in-season routine beginning Tuesday when they will hold position meetings prior to their 3:10 p.m. workout. In previous years, all position meetings had been held after practice.
All workouts are open to the public and the media. Baylor opens its 2005 season Sept. 3 at SMU.
