WACO, Texas -- Desiree Guilliard-Young tallied 12 kills and seven blocks Saturday in Baylor's annual Green and Gold volleyball scrimmage at the Ferrell Center. The Green Team, led by Guilliard-Young, won both games in the two-game match by scores of 30-25 and 30-26.
Nicole LeBlanc and Stella Odion, playing for the Gold Team, joined Guilliard-Young in double-digit kills with 12 and 11, respectively. Setters Emily Huston and Amanda Modglin played one game with each team; Huston recorded 28 assists, while Modglin had 23 assists. Kelly Spriggs, who also played one game with each team, finished with 10 kills.
Defensively, Maggie Chlebana finished with a match-high 22 digs. Huston (14), Kristen Schramek (11) and Deja Sweeney (10) also reached double figures in digs. Modglin, Sweeney and Spriggs had two blocks each.
Baylor opens its 2005 season Aug. 27, facing Northwestern State (3 p.m. CDT) and Louisiana Tech (7 p.m.) at Ruston, La. The Bears play their first home match Sept. 3, hosting North Texas for an 11 a.m. match at the Ferrell Center.
