With Thursday's forecasted highs near 100 predicted for the afternoon, the Baylor football team worked in the morning for more than two hours on the grass practice fields in preparation for Friday's final two-a-day session of fall camp.
"It was a good (practice," said Baylor coach Guy Morriss. "I thought they came out and got after it pretty good. We've got to hold on to the ball, we put the ball on the ground too many times. But, other than that, it was a good effort.
"The kids are getting tired and they are tired of beating on each other," he added. "We had a few fisticuffs, but that's to be expected this time of year. I don't have a problem with it as long as they leave it on the field. I kind of like it really. If you don't have any fighters than forget it."
Baylor will return to the practice field on Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by an 8 p.m. workout under the lights at Floyd Casey Stadium. On Saturday, the Bears will hold their final workout before fall classes begin at 8:30 a.m., with the annual Meet the Bears festivities scheduled to be held from 1 to 3 p.m. in the stadium's north end zone complex.
All practices are open to the public and the media. Baylor opens its 2005 season Sept. 3 at SMU.
