Recap
2005 NCAA MEN'S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS
Baylor University - Waco, Texas
POSTMATCH QUOTES
Second Round - #1 Baylor 4, #29 Texas 1 - May 14, 2005
Baylor head coach Matt Knoll:
On bouncing back after losing the doubles point:
"It was a test to be behind 0-1, come back and fight back. I thought our guys passed with flying colors.
"It was just a good opportunity for us to kind of stretch ourselves out and see how we could respond, and I'm pleased that we will advance."
On the fourth straight sweet 16:
"We are just looking forward to [our next] match. This is not really a time to think about what we have done in the past so much as it is to look forward to the future."
On getting to play in College Station next weekend:
"If we get a bunch of Baylor folks coming down there on Saturday and getting behind us, then being in College Station is a huge advantage for us. The other thing that's an advantage is that we train in virtually the same conditions that they have there."
University of Texas head coach Michael Center:
On Texas' play:
"We played as hard as we could play. We played very well in doubles. We played with a lot of energy and I knew that in order to get our opportunity we would have to be very aggressive.
"In doubles we were pretty aggressive. We made some good plays and got the point, so that was critical if we were going to have a chance tonight."
On Baylor's performance:
"Right now they are just too much power."
On game play:
"To give up [court] five and [court] six and then to have to try to beat what are basically the two best players in the country is too much.
"I thought we had chances at [court] 3 and [court] 4 to get sets...but then we just got ourselves in a hole quickly. The momentum shifted and the crowd started to get into it."
