WACO, Texas - Baylor football players Ryan Jeffrey, Desmond Jenkins, and Phil Tran visited South Waco Elementary on Monday. They spoke to a 3rd grade assembly about the importance of discipline and working hard to get into college. The students asked the players many questions about college and football.
Ryan Jeffrey discussed what is required to get into college. He emphasized the need to work hard and stay in school.
Jeffrey also said that college is a rewarding experience because, "you get to learn a lot and meet new and interesting people."
Desmond Jenkins spoke about the need to be disciplined and to listen to one's teachers.
"It's important to act right. If you misbehave when you get older, the consequences are bigger and you won't be able to do what you want to do," Jenkins stated.
Phil Tran talked about focusing on one's goals and not being distracted from them.
"College preparation begins now and your teachers are here to help you," said Tran.
Baylor mascot Bruiser made a special appearance to entertain the kids.
All of the students and teachers received schedule cards from the players. Before leaving, the players taught the kids how to do the "Sic `em Bears" yell.
