Twelve Baylor football student-athletes earned 2005 SBC All-Big 12 Conference honors, the league announced Tuesday. Senior outside safety Willie Andrews earned first-team honors for the second consecutive season, while junior wide receiver Dominique Zeigler and junior punter Daniel Sepulveda received second-team recognition from the conference coaches.

In addition, nine Bears earned honorable-mention status--senior linebacker Colin Allred, junior cornerback Anthony Arline, junior center Will Blaylock, junior defensive end Marcus Foreman, senior free safety Maurice Lane, senior offensive tackle Lequalan McDonald, senior defensive end Montez Murphy, senior return specialist Shaun Rochon and junior cornerback C.J. Wilson.

Baylor's 12 total honorees are the most since the Big 12 Conference's inception. In three seasons under head coach Guy Morriss, 21 Bears have earned all-conference recognition from the league's coaches and his staff has produced three of the program's five first-team selections, its only (Andrews) two-time first-team performer and one (Sepulveda) of its two three-time picks.

A senior from Longview, Texas, Andrews becomes the first Bear to earn first-team All-Big 12 honors twice from the coaches after being selected first-team a year ago as a return specialist. He ranked fourth on the team in tackles with 59 stops (36 solos) to go with 7.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, three pass breakups and one forced fumble.

Andrews, who also owns Baylor career records for total kick returns (164), total kick return yards (2,596), kickoff returns (67), kickoff return yards (1,647) and punt return yards (949), averaged 10.1 yards on 27 punt returns and 24.1yards on 11 kickoff returns as a senior. He finished his career with 2,654 all-purpose yards (2,596 kick return, 51 interception return, 7 rush), which is good for eighth on the school's career list and ranks as the highest of any BU performer with fewer than 10 total rushing or receiving yards to his credit.

Sepulveda, a junior from Dallas, Texas, earned all-conference honors for the third time after receiving first-team accolades in 2004 and second-team recognition as a redshirt freshman in 2003. He joins Gary Baxter (1998-1999-2000) as the only three-time coaches All-Big 12 selections in school history.

The 2004 Ray Guy Award winner, Sepulveda currently leads the Big 12 Conference and ranks No. 2 nationally with his 46.2 yard punting average, which also stands as the second-best single-season mark in school history. He recorded 19 punts of 50 or more yards on the year and placed 13 kicks inside the opponents' 20-yard line. Sepulveda's 44.85 career average ranks as the best-ever by a Bear (and the fourth-best mark among active NCAA Division I-A players) and he also holds school records for career punts of 50 or more yards (63) and 60 or more yards (14).

A junior from Killeen, Texas, Zeigler led the 2005 Bears with 48 receptions for a team-high 563 yards and five touchdowns. He ranks eighth in the Big 12 and 88th nationally with 4.27 receptions per game while his 51.2 receiving yards per game rank 11th in the league. Zeigler recorded at least two receptions in every game (and owns a string of 21-straight such efforts) in 2005 and caught a season-high nine passes for a career-high 141 yards and one touchdown in the Bears' 37-30 double-overtime loss at Oklahoma.

All-Big 12 Conference teams are selected by the league's 12 head coaches, who are not permitted to vote for their own players.

Baylor finished the 2005 season 5-6 overall and 2-6 in Big 12 play, the Bears' most successful season since 1995. During the 2005 campaign, Baylor snapped a 24-game road losing streak, won its first Big 12 road game and posted multiple Big 12 wins in the same season for the first time ever.
