WACO, Texas - Michal Kokta and Matija Zgaga will travel to Tulsa, Okla., to participate in the qualifying bracket of the Polo Ralph Lauren Men's All-American Tennis Championships, hosted by the University of Tulsa, beginning Monday, Oct. 3. The tournament, hosted annually since 1979, will be held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the Tulsa campus.
The Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships include 128-player and 64-doubles team qualifying tournaments October 3-5, which feed into the 64-player, 32-doubles team main draw which takes place Oct. 6-9. In the qualifying draw, 16 singles players will advance to the main draw.
Kokta and Zgaga will both be making their first appearance of the 2005-06 season in the ITA All-American. Kokta, a junior ranked No. 63 nationally, comes into the 128-player qualifying bracket as the No. 14 seed. He draws Louisville's Jeremy Clark, a senior, as his first round opponent. Zgaga, a junior, will take on freshman Eidy Igarashi of Old Dominion in first round action.
Lars Poerschke, ranked No. 25, was selected for the main draw and will begin competition on Oct. 6. He and Zgaga will team up for doubles competition in the main draw as well.
