Baylor will host No. 20 Kansas State in the final match of the year's longest homestand Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Ferrell Center. The match was originally scheduled for 7 p.m., but was moved to avoid conflict with Saturday's home football game against Nebraska at 6:05 p.m. at Floyd Casey Stadium.
The Bears snapped a six-match losing streak by downing Oklahoma in four games Wednesday night, while the Wildcats lost a five-game decision to Colorado on the road in Boulder.
Baylor is led by junior outside hitter Nicole LeBlanc, who leads the team with 3.71 kills per game and ranks second with 2.86 digs per game. Junior middle blocker Desiree Guilliard-Young, playing in only her fifth match since returning from a knee injury, has double-digit kills in each of the last two matches, including coming one shy of her career high with 16 against Oklahoma. The Bears are led defensively by sophomore libero Kristen Schramek, who leads the team with 3.78 digs per game.
Kansas State is led by Agata Resende, who averages 3.97 kills per game, and Sandy Werner, who averages 3.60 digs per game. The Wildcats are led defensively by Angie Lastra, who averages 4.13 digs per game.
Kansas State leads the all-time series against Baylor, 14-5, and have won seven of the last eight meetings. The Wildcats claimed both matches last year, sweeping the Bears in Manhattan and escaping Waco with a five-game decision. The Bears last victory over Kansas State came when they upset the then-ninth ranked Wildcats Sept. 24, 2003, in Waco for the biggest upset in Baylor volleyball history.
The Bears return to action in the volleyball edition of the "Battle of the Brazos" when they travel to face Texas A&M Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at G. Rollie White Coliseum in College Station.
