WACO, Texas - Men's tennis team continued to receive an assortment of national rankings when the singles and doubles rankings were released Thursday by the International Tennis Association.
Early in this week, freshman Lars Poerschke and sophomore Matija Zgaga earned regional rankings in both singles and doubles and also placed at the top of the list nationally.
Poerschke is ranked 11th in singles for his outstanding fall play where he went 13-4. He is currently ranked No. 1 in the region in singles play after winning the ITA Central Regional in Austin in November.
Zgaga earned his highest singles ranking in his two years at Baylor. The sophomore is ranked 45th nationally and 6th regionally after going 8-1 during the fall.
Poerschke and Zgaga combined to earn the No. 7 spot nationally in doubles rankings. The duo won the ITA Central Regional and enters the spring as the highest ranked duo in the Big 12.
Action starts Friday for the Bears and results will be posted on the Baylor web site after all the matches of the day have been completed.
