MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-Led by Brittany Brockman, the Baylor women's cross country team raced to a fourth place finish at the Roy Griak Invitational. The Bears also had a strong showing on the men's side, as Baylor ran to a 14th-place finish at the event.
Brockam paced the Bears on the women's side, running the 6,000-meter race in a time of 21:19 to finish eighth. Monique Ortega also had a good race for the Bears as she finished 25th with a time of 21:58.
Lauren Hagans, Brittany McGuire and Lyndsy Bedell also scored for the Bears as Baylor finished behind only Providence, Arizona State and UC Santa Barbara.
Cody Wells paced the way for the Bears on the men's side, as he ran the 8,000-meter course in a time of 25:26 to finish in 45th-place. Rob Morrow was the next Bear to finish as he crossed the line in a time of 25:44 to finish in 64th. Bo Price, Jason Baker and Joel Sartain also scored for the Bears in the meet.
Wisconsin took home the team title in the men's meet as the Badgers' Matt Tegenkamp won the individual title.
Kim Smith of Providence claimed the individual title in the women's meet.
Baylor will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 16, when the women's team will run in the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind., while the men run in the Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
