Waco, Texas - The No. 2 ranked Baylor men's tennis team defeated the University of California at Berkeley Tuesday, 6-1, at the Hellman Tennis Center in Berkeley. The Bears overall record now moves to 14-2 on the year.
In doubles competition Baylor swept California at all three positions to win the point, and in singles the Bears won at all positions except No. 1 where No. 2 ranked Benedikt Dorsch fell to Balazs Veress in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 1-0. This marked Dorsh's second consecutive loss.
In the most recent ITA rankings the men's tennis team moved up one place from No. 3 to No. 2 despite Dorsch falling from No. 1 to No. 2 and Benjamin Becker falling from No. 5 to No. 13. Some more Baylor players making the rankings are Matija Zgaga coming in at No. 67 and Matias Marin at No. 85. In doubles rankings Dorsch and Ivor Lovrak are ranked No. 10.
The Bears next match is at home against Texas Tech at 6 p.m. Saturday. This will be Baylor's second Big 12 match of the year.
