Sepulveda Named Finalist for Ray Guy Award

WACO, Texas - Baylor sophomore punter Daniel Sepulveda was named one of three finalists for the Ray Guy Award, the National College Football Awards Association announced Tuesday. Sepulveda joins Brandon Fields of Michigan State and Chris Kluwe of UCLA as finalists.
The Guy Award, named for former NFL All-Pro punter Ray Guy, is presented by the Greater Augusta [Ga.] Sports Council. This is the fifth year of the award, which went to B.J. Sander of Ohio State last season. Sepulveda is the first Baylor punter named a finalist for the Guy Award.
Through games of Nov. 20, Sepulveda ranks second in the Big 12 and third nationally with 45.97 yards per punt. Fields leads the nation at 48.30 yards per punt, and Kluwe is 17th at 43.25.
A product of Highland Park [Texas] High School, Sepulveda recorded 24 punts of 50-plus yards and five punts of 60-plus yards this season. He also has placed 26 punts inside the opponent's 20 yard line and has a net average of 42.47 yards per punt which ranks second nationally. Sepulveda has placed a nation-leading 41.9 percent of his punts (26 of 62) inside the opponents' 20-yard line.
In his two-season career, Sepulveda ranks first all-time at Baylor in yards per punt (44.30), first in punts of at least 50 yards (50), tied for second in punts of at least 60 yards (eight), eighth in total punting yards (6,600) and ninth in total punts (147).
Award winners will be announced on ESPN's Home Depot College Football Awards Show, aired live Thursday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. CST.
