WACO, Texas - Baylor sophomore Benjamin Becker of Orscholz, Germany, joins Missouri junior Katka Sevcikova of Prague, Czech Republic, and Texas A&M senior Ashley Hedberg of Austin, Texas, as Big 12 Conference Men's and Co-Women's Tennis Players of the Week for matches from Apr. 15-21, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Becker, ranked No. 92, capped a men's championship season and 22-1 regular-campaign record (7-0 Big 12) by downing Texas A&M's No. 48 Ante Matijevic 6-3, 6-4 last week at No. 3 singles for the decisive fourth point in the match. It also was the Bears' 10th of 11 consecutive home wins in 2003, and Becker moved to No. 1 singles to down Christophe Bergues of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 6-2, 6-2 to help coach Matt Knoll's crew defeat TAMU-CC 7-0 in BU's 2003 scheduled home finale prior to NCAA play.

Becker is currently 25-7 on the season and 17-1 in dual match competition. He is the third Baylor men's tennis player to be named Big 12 Player of the Week this season, joining teammates Zoltan Papp and Benedikt Dorsch.
