WACO, Texas - The Baylor men's tennis team will host its Second Annual Dinner and Tennis Event Feb. 28 at the Baylor Tennis Center.
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with registration and a silent auction. At 7 p.m., Baylor President Robert B. Sloan Jr., head football coach Guy Morriss, head women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson and others will square off in an exhibition tennis match.
After the exhibition, members of the third-ranked Baylor team will take to the court for a tournament against attending guests, followed by a special dinner for all attending.
Among the silent auction items:
- Four Texas Rangers tickets (third row behind the visitor's dugout);
- Tickets to a Houston Rockets game, including a private plane ride on King Air, a signed Houston Rockets basketball and a signed picture of Yao Ming);
- A shoe signed by tennis legend Stan Smith;
- A shirt signed by Jean-Michael Gambill;
- Tennis equipment (racquets, balls, shirts, etc.) from Prince, Wilson, Reebok and Dunlop;
- Tennis lessons;
- Dinners for two;
- Tennis memorabilia;
- The option to accompany the team to the 2003 Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City, Mo.; the all-inclusive trip offers a stay at the Carlton Ritz Plaza, tickets to the event and plane tickets -- just like being a part of the team);
- The opportunity to go through the game-day routine with the players as if the winner were a Baylor Tennis team member for the match against No. 9 Minnesota on March 1 (home match); includes VIP seats and hospitality.
