Waco, Texas - Two Baylor netters, Ivor Lovrak and Benjamin Becker were able to advance in their singles matches and as doubles partners on Friday at the Bayard Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth.
Ivor Lovrak defeated Bryan Wooten of Texas A&M University 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 in the round of 64, while Benjamin Becker the tournament's No. 3 seed quickly defeated Joe Morris of UT 6-2, 6-4 in the round of 64. Jason Gould defeated Gareth Ducray of Texas A&M Corpus Christi after Ducray retired after being injured in the second set. Gould was winning 6-0, 3-0 when Ducray was injured. Gould advanced to the round of 64 but was defeated by William Barker of Rice 6-2, 6-3.
Becker and Lovrak then combined as doubles partners to defeat Teddy Diblasi and Bojan Szumauski of Texas Tech 9-7 in the round of 32 in doubles competition.
Becker's next match will be against Vuk Rajevac of Rice at 12:30 p.m. Saturday October 25. Lovrak will compete against Gonzalo Figueredo of Texas A&M University also at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Gould will play Josey Trinnier of UTA Saturday at 1:30 in the consolation main draw round of 64.
