Baylor stays on the road this weekend, traveling to Lawrence, Kan., for a showdown with Big 12 foe Kansas. Saturday's kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. CDT at Memorial Stadium. Both teams look to return to winning ways. The Bears (3-3, 1-1) dropped a 73-10 decision last week at Texas A&M, snapping a three-game winning streak. The Jayhawks (4-2, 1-1) were edged 50-47 in overtime last week at Colorado, snapping a four-game winning streak. Baylor and Kansas have played one common opponent this season: Colorado. The Bears defeated the Buffaloes 42-30 two weeks ago in Waco.

SERIES
Baylor and Kansas meet on the gridiron for the seventh time Saturday, the fourth as members of the Big 12 Conference. The Bears hold a 4-2 advantage in the all-time series, 2-1 as Conference foes. The series dates back to a 22-0 Kansas victory at Lawrence in 1971. The teams did not meet again until Baylor won both ends of a home-and-home series in 1988 and 1989. The Bears won the first Big 12 meeting 31-24 in Waco (1998) but lost the next season 45-10 at Lawrence. Last year, Baylor edged the Jayhawks 35-32 at Floyd Casey Stadium, snapping a 29-game conference losing streak.

COACHES
Guy Morriss (TCU, 1973) is 3-3 in his initial season at Baylor. In his third year as a collegiate head coach, Morriss has a 12-17 career record. This is his first meeting with Kansas. Mark Mangino (Youngstown State, 1987) is in his second season as head coach at Kansas with a 6-12 record. The former Oklahoma and Kansas State assistant is 0-1 against Baylor as a head coach.

BAYLOR vs. BIG 12 NORTH
Nearly all of Baylor's success in the Big 12 Conference has come against teams from the North Division. The Bears are 4-17 against teams from the North with only one victory (Texas, 1997) against teams from the South.

BEARS LOOK TO OVERCOME ROAD WOES
Baylor seeks to end a 16-game road losing streak Saturday at Kansas. Baylor's last victory away from Floyd Casey Stadium was a 20-7 triumph Aug. 31, 2000 at North Texas. That victory ended another 16-game road losing streak, dating back to a 37-35 win Sept. 6, 1997 at Fresno State. The Bears also hope to end a 30-game conference road losing streak. Baylor's last conference victory on the road was as a member of the Southwest Conference when the Bears posted a 48-7 victory Oct. 11, 1995 at SMU.

YOUNGER SEPULVEDA KEEPS BOOMING 'EM
P/LB Daniel Sepulveda leads the Big 12 Conference and ranks fourth nationally, averaging 46.38 yards per punt. In 41 punts, Sepulveda has tallied 1,902 yards with 12 punts going 50-plus yards. Sepulveda has also placed 12 punts inside the 20 and three punts inside the five with two coffins. Against Texas A&M, Sepulveda punted nine times for an average of 47.8 yards per punt. He posted a net average of 47.1 yards per punt with four inside the 20 and three of 50-plus yards, including a game-high 55-yarder. Sepulveda's punting has made Baylor the Big 12's top-ranked punting team in terms of net yards per punt. The Bears average 41.19 net yards per punt, ninth nationally.
