WACO, Texas - The Baylor soccer team struck back quickly after falling behind in the second half to pull out a 2-1 victory over Mississippi State as the Baylor Labor Day Classic wrapped up Sunday night at Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field.

At 2-0, the Bears are undefeated after two games for the first time since 1998. That season, Baylor went on to win the first Big 12 Championship in the school's history. The Bears are now 6-1-1 all-time in four years worth of Labor Day Classics.

After a scoreless first half, the Bulldogs (1-1) struck first in the second period. Jessi Moore notched her second goal of the young season, assisted by Amy Van Zandt and April Berry, just over five minutes into the second half to put Mississippi State, ranked ninth in the region, up 1-0.

Unfazed, the Bears struck back quickly. Just over a minute later, redshirt freshman Tiffany Boshers corralled a loose ball and redirected it into the net to tie the game at 1-1 at the 51:25 mark.

Less than eight minutes later, junior Ryan Lee scored her first goal of the year, heading in a pass from Ginny Rosario-Tull to put Baylor on top to stay.

"Having a great team spirit allowed us to come back after going a goal down," head coach Nick Cowell said. "The two goals were both excellent; I'm happy for both [Tiffany and Ryan]."

"Being down didn't really phase us," Boshers said. "We knew coming in that they'd score against us, but we didn't get down; we came right back."

Earlier in the day, TCU (0-1-1) and Louisiana-Lafayette (0-1-1) battled to a 1-1 tie after double overtime.

The Bears hit the road Friday, playing at Rice at 7 p.m. before returning home Sunday to host Southwest Texas at 7 p.m.
