Something's got to give on Saturday when Baylor and UL-Lafayette face off of the court. Each team brings unblemished 4-0 records to the match. The Bears recently moved up to No. 8 nationally and the Ragin' Cajuns are tied for No. 75.
Baylor has posted victories over Mississippi State, SMU, UT-Pan American and UT-San Antonio. They are 3-0 at home this season. UL-Lafayette has defeated Southeastern Louisiana (5-2), Centenary (5-2), Lamar (6-1) and New Mexico (4-3). All four of those matches were on their home court, so this is their first road trip of the 2002 season.
Five Bears are undefeated in spring action: Markus Hornung and Matias Marin are each 4-0, while Zoltan Papp, Mike Garcia and Nathan McGregor boast 2-0 marks.
Becker Named Preseason All-Big 12...
Freshman Benjamin Becker was Baylor's lone preseason All-Big 12 selection as voted by the conference coaches. Becker, a native or Orscholz, Germany, is currently ranked No. 3 nationally, the highest ever for a Baylor player. Becker finished the fall season with a 14-4 record and made it to the finals of the ITA Indoor Nationals.
Baylor in the Rankings...
According to the latest team rankings released Wed., Feb. 13 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), the Baylor men's tennis team jumped up five spots from No. 13 to No. 8 in the country.
Matt Knoll's men's team, currently 4-0 on the season, is the Big 12's highest ranked team. They have posted victories over then-No. 14 Mississippi State by a score of 4-3 and posted a 4-3 road win over No. 8 SMU on Sat., Feb. 2.
In the ITA Top 100 individual rankings released on Dec. 12, three Bears received rankings. Freshman Benjamin Becker checked in at No. 3, newcomer Markus Hornung, a sophomore, is No. 25 and sophomore Reiner Neurohr ranks No. 91. In doubles, three teams made the rankings. Hornung and Neurohr ranked highest at No. 8 while Becker and Hornung are No. 19 and Zoltan Papp and Nathan McGregor are No. 57.
Undefeated...

Simply the Best...
The Bears have eight teams on their 2002 spring schedule that began the spring ranked among the top 25. Since entering the top 25 in Dec. 1998, Baylor is 20-19 against other top-25 teams.
At this time, 12 of their remaining opponents are ranked among the nation's top 100.
