WACO, Texas - The Baylor men's tennis team earned its fourth straight NCAA tournament selection, the NCAA announced Thursday,
The men's team will head north to TCU as a No. 2 seed in the Fort Worth Regional. The Bears, ranked No. 30 in the latest ITA poll, will face No. 39 Tulane in the first round. Baylor beat Tulane earlier this season 4-3 in New Orleans. The winner of the Baylor-Tulane match will play the winner of TCU-UT-Arlington.
Dates and times will be announced at a later date.
"It's a challenge." men's head coach Matt Knoll said. "If we're going to get to Athens [, Ga., site of the NCAA final rounds] -- and that's our goal -- then we have to win two very hard matches. We're excited to be in the draw and to have a chance, now we have to take advantage of that chance."
The men's doubles team of Reiner Neurohr and Mark Williams, ranked 24th in the nation, was chosen as the fifth alternate for the NCAA Doubles Championships.
"I'm disappointed for Reiner and Mark," Knoll said. "I thought they belonged in."
