WACO, Texas - The Baylor men's tennis team moved up two spots to No. 29 in the nation, but the Baylor women fell to No. 18 in the latest national rankings, released Wednesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
The Baylor men enter this week's Big 12 Championships riding the momentum of Saturday's 5-2 win over then-No. 19 Texas in Austin. That victory powered the Bears up two spots to No. 29 this week.
The Baylor women have won four of their last five matches, but a loss April 16 to then-No. 16 Oklahoma State dropped the Bears down five spots to No. 18.
Both teams begin play in the Big 12 Championships Friday afternoon. The women play Friday at 1:30 p.m. against the winner of Thursday's Nebraska-Iowa State match. The Baylor men follow at 4 p.m. against Colorado. Both matches will be played at the Baylor Tennis Center.
