WACO, Texas - The Baylor tennis teams remained relatively steady in the national team rankings. The Baylor women held at No. 17 while the Baylor men dropped four spots to 36th in the latest rankings, released Wednesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
The Baylor women have won 12 of their last 14 matches, having slipped past Colorado 4-3 last time out. The Bears have ranked 17th or better for eight of the last nine weeks and have ranked no lower than 18th since last spring.
The Baylor men fell to 8-8 with a loss to Notre Dame Friday. Seven of the team's eight losses this season have come against top-20 competition, however, allowing them to remain among the top teams in the country at No. 36.
The Baylor women play at Houston Wednesday, then head to College Station to face 12th-ranked Texas A&M Thursday at 6 p.m. in a make-up game for an earlier rain-out. The Baylor men play at No. 22 Alabama on Saturday and at No. 9 South Alabama on Monday.
