WACO, Texas - The Baylor tennis programs earned five singles honors and two doubles selections in the preseason all-Big 12 teams released Monday.
The Baylor women, currently ranked No. 18 in the nation, placed three singles players and one doubles team on the list. Senior all-American Jahnavi Parekh, junior Katja Kovac and sophomore Vida Mulec were each honored in singles, and the team of Kovac and Mulec was named to the doubles list. The three singles players are ranked No. 18, No. 35 and No. 41 in the nation, respectively.
The 19th-ranked Baylor men earned two singles nominations and one doubles selection. Senior all-American Mark Williams, ranked No. 92 in the country, and Zoltan Papp, the 2000 Big 12 Freshman of the Year, were named to the singles all-conference team. The fourth-ranked doubles team of Williams and freshman Reiner Neurohr represented Baylor on the doubles listing.
Parekh, Kovac and Williams each were named to the all-conference singles teams following the 2000 season, and the team of Kovac and Mulec earned all-Big 12 honors last season.
The teams were selected by a vote of the league's coaches. A three-way tie in voting occurred for the final spot on the preseason all-conference doubles team, resulting in eight squads being named to the all-conference team.
