WACO, Texas - For the second week in a row, the Baylor women's tennis team earned the highest ranking in program history as they moved up to No. 14 in the country, according to the latest team rankings released Wednesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
The women's No. 14 position was up three spots from the team's previous high ranking of No. 17, reached last week. The Baylor women moved up after going 2-1 at the National Team Indoors, including wins over then-No. 8 UCLA and then-No. 21 Washington.
The Baylor men's team slipped one spot to No. 21 in the latest listing. That ranking is the team's lowest since the end of the 1998 season, when the Bears finished the year at No. 26.
Wednesday's rankings mark the 50th straight week that both the Baylor men's and women's tennis teams have ranked in top 25. The streak dates to March 15, 2000, when the Baylor women moved up to No. 18.
