GREENVILLE, S.C. - Baylor's men's cross country team finished 15th and the women placed 23rd here at the Furman-hosted NCAA Pre-Meet Saturday. The Pre-Meet field was divided into two races for both the men and women due to the large amount of participating teams.

BU's men's team participated in the "Black" race and scored 391 points to finish 15th out of the 35 teams in the field. Stanford ran away with the team title scoring just 56 points as three of it's runners finished in the top-10. Individually, David Kimani took top honors for the men finishing the 8K race in 24:06. The Bears top finisher was Ferenc Bekesi who placed 56th overall with a time of 25:41. Baylor's top-three was completed as Matt Chance ran to a 61st-place finish (25:47) and Nick Devenport placed 67th (25:52) overall.

On the women's side Stanford barely held off BYU in the "Silver" race scoring 72 points to the Cougars 74 to take the team title. Baylor, without the help of its top runner Kara Newton, ran to a 23rd-place finish in the field of 37 teams. BU finished with a final score of 609. The field was lead by Washington's Sabrina Monro who won the race with a time of 20:26. Baylor's squad was paced by Erin Dixon who ran the 6K race in 22:29 to place 71st overall. Other top finishers for BU included Candice Kolb and Stephanie Bennett who finished 95th (22:51) and 108th (22:56), respectively.

Baylor's cross country team will take next weekend off as it prepares for the Big 12 Championships on Oct. 27 in Norman, Okla.
