WACO, Texas - Baylor men's tennis player Chip Webb has withdrawn from school and will not play for the Bears in the spring due to a family illness.
Webb, a freshman from Chattanooga, Tenn., missed the entire fall due to a wrist injury, but was poised to break into the Bears' lineup this spring.
"Our prayers are with him and his family," head coach Matt Knoll said. "We support his decision to stay with his family and do what's best for them.
"This is a blow to our program, as we lose not only Chip's skills on the court but also his personality. We're hopeful that things will stabilize and he will be able to rejoin us in the fall."
