NORMAN, Okla. - The No. 4-ranked Baylor men's tennis team won its seventh straight conference game as the Bears remained undefeated in the Big 12, beating Oklahoma on Friday, 6-1.
With a win Saturday at Oklahoma State, the Baylor men would clinch the team's first-ever Big 12 Conference title. The win today clinched at least a tie for the Bears. Texas A&M and Kansas each entered the weekend with one loss.
Baylor swept all three doubles spots, then won the first four singles matches in straight sets at the Nos. 2, 4, 5, and 6 spots. No. 65 Zoltan Papp, playing at No. 3, pulled out a narrow three-set win, but No. 23 Johann Jooste lost in three sets to unranked Dusty Beard.
The Bears play their final regular season match of the year on Saturday, traveling down the road from Norman to Stillwater to take on Oklahoma State at 1 p.m.
