WACO, Texas - The Baylor men's tennis squad's ace singles player, Johann Jooste, and top doubles team of David Hodge and Mark Williams were named to the ITA men's tennis all-America team.
This is Jooste's second consecutive all-America nomination. He made the 2000 NCAA Men's Tennis Championships Round of 16 in singles to earn the honor.
Hodge and Williams were honored as the pair was named one of the top eight seeds at the 2000 NCAA Men's Tennis Championships.
The duo has ranked no lower than eighth since December. The pair has listed as high as second (April 26 ITA rankings) and enter the doubles tournament ranked eighth.
Hodge and Williams have compiled a 24-11 overall record, 17-8 in dual matches. They are 10-5 against ranked opponents, but lost in their last outing against TCU in the NCAA round of 16 to 55th-ranked Eddins and Haney.
This is the first all-America honor for a Baylor men's doubles team. Johann Jooste earned all-America status in singles last season, Baylor's only other men's tennis all-American.
Hodge and Williams begin play in the NCAA Championships on Thursday when they will face 15th-ranked Gert Vilms and Damien Ward of BYU.
