WACO, Texas - Baylor women's volleyball head coach Brian Hosfeld announced Wednesday the signing of two high school players to National Letters of Intent. Ashley Foster and Dayna Henry, both seniors at Ozen High School in Beaumont, Texas, will enroll at Baylor in the fall.
Wednesday's signings make up the Bears' class for the fall signing period, which ends Nov. 15. There will also be a spring signing period, which begins April 15.
"We are excited to have Ashley and Dayna coming to Baylor," Hosfeld said. "They both can make impacts on their respective positions because of their size and athleticism. We have not had an outside hitter of Ashley's size, and we are continually looking to get more physical at the middle blocker position. We feel these two players are the perfect fit for our needs."
Foster, a 6-1 outside hitter, was named first-team all-District 19-4A last season as a junior when she led the district in kills and finished second in blocks. She also earned second-team all-district accolades as a sophomore. Along with numerous other honors, Foster was named to all-tournament teams this season at the Central High School Tournament, the Jasper High School Tournament and the prestigious Las Vegas Tournament.
Henry, a 6-3 middle blocker, was a second-team all-District 19-4A selection last season as a junior, finishing second in the district in kills and first in blocks. She was also named honorable mention all-district as a sophomore.
Together, Foster and Henry led the Panthers to a district co-championship with Silsbee this season.
