Baylor Lady Bears coach Brian Hosfeld announced last week the signing of two tall and well-liked recruits for his volleyball team. They are Ashley Foster and Dayna Henry, both seniors at Ozen High School in Beaumont.
Hosfeld indicated the two Ozen High recruits would wrap up his fall signings, but he noted there will also be a spring signing period beginning April 15. Obviously he expects to be busy in that recruiting session, too.
"We are excited to have Ashley and Dayna coming to Baylor," the Lady Bears coach said. "They both can make impacts on their respective positions because of their size and athleticism."
Foster is a 6-1 outside hitter who was named first-team all-district in 19-4A last season as a junior when she led the district in kills and finished second in blocks. Along with numerous other honors, she was named to all-tournament teams this fall at the Central High School Tournament, the Jasper High School Tournament and the prestigious Las Vegas Tournament.
Henry is a 6-3 middle blocker who was a second-team all-district choice in 19-4A last year after finishing second in the district in kills and first in blocks. Together, Foster and Henry led the Panthers to a district co-championship with Silsbee this season.
Said Hosfeld: "We have not had an outside hitter of Ashley's size, and we are continually looking to get more physical at the middle blocker position. We feel these two players are the perfect fit for our needs."
